Welcome to Pilates Vita!
The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is a system of exercises that focus on the “Powerhouse.” These deep postural muscles of the body—mainly the abdominal (core), buttocks, hips and inner thighs—strengthen and lengthen the body. While strengthening the core stability muscles, Pilates works towards re-aligning the spine to its optimum position. Focusing on this proper form and alignment while strengthening the core stability muscles through movement is what Pilates is all about. It is also very effective for toning muscles, weight loss, eliminating back pain and rehabilitation from injuries and surgeries. At Pilates Vita we also have special exercises for Pre and Post Natal women. We work with Physical Therapy on Pilates Method to increase the the possibilities of workout soon after surgeries. We care about each person as an individual, working almost like a private class, even if you come for a group session. At Pilates Vita, you will get all attention to exercise proper for the perfect result that you are looking for. You must connect your mind to your body in order to execute the movements properly .
The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is very different from your typical gym workout. The exercise program utilizes a system of over 500 exercises using specialized equipment created by Joseph Pilates. Pilates is based on seven key principles consisting of centering, control, concentration, breath, flow, precision and balance.

Our Experienced and Professional Staff is Here to Assist You.
Pilates Vita offers high quality training in the authentic Pilates Method. Only those who have completed an extensive certification program, consisting years of apprenticeship, will be accepted to teach at this studio. That’s why it is necessary for each teacher to go through the entire system of over 500 exercises, modifications, variations, to prevent injuries, to handle current ones, to understand physical limitations, to know the safety on the equipment, and the most important thing: To know how to adjust to different people. Like everything in nature, each person's body is different. Each of our instructors must keep up with their training by attending Continuing Education courses, conferences, and taking sessions from master teachers.

I am a certified Pilates instructor and a Pilates Method Alliance member, with extensive training in Classic Pilates first and other Pilates lines over the years. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where I studied dance, the arts, and received a degree in journalism. Through my years in the body field, I have developed a passion for body movement, nutrition and natural cures. After several courses and workshops, in 1993 I took an extensive education program in a Natural Body Therapy, specializing in Holistic Healing and Natural food Nutrition. This work and dedication definitely changed my life in many ways.
In 2000, in Rio, I had my first contact with the Pilates Method, and since then it has always been a part of my life. Pilates for me, is a healing process, a work out, and most importantly a pleasure of helping people to feel better about their body. The introduction of Pilates to my life, complemented my existing knowledge and experiences related to healing the body. In 2002, when I first moved to the US, to Manhattan, I went to practice in 3 different studios. At that time, I had the chance to learn with a wonderful Master teacher, Ludovine Krenwisky who was visiting from Europe. In 2003, I moved to San Francisco where I continued my Pilates training. In 2005, in Scottsdale Arizona, I dedicated most of my time to Pilates. And after moving to Denver in 2008, I took one more certification course and decided to open my own studio. I really enjoy learning more every day and keep updating my knowledge with new exercises from different Pilates lines, and by getting all the recent information in special Pilates method for injuries and medical issues such as scoliosis, sciatic, neck and knee problems. I also received special certification in Pilates for during Pregnancy and Post Partum, with the most recognized master in the area: Carolyn Anthony.
I am a true believer in the Pilates Method, which I have been practicing for over 11 years now. It has had such a positive impact on my body, mind, and life. I know it will for you as well!!
Whether this is an initial introduction to Pilates in your life, or you have already experienced the joy of the practice, I would greatly enjoy being your teacher in this life changing journey.
Clare McCarty
Fitness has been a lifelong passion for Clare. Clare was first introduced to Pilates after searching for a workout that would build strength while healing a low back injury. She quickly saw the benefits of Pilates and how it heals and invigorates the body and mind. After participating in years of boot camps and other training programs, Clare was inspired by the way Pilates trains the body as a whole. One class a week turned into two, two turned into three and before she knew it, she was practicing daily.
Clare enjoys working with people of all fitness levels. She likes to make each class a challenge and encourages her clients to have fun in class. Clare is PSC certified which taught her a contemporary approach to the classic Pilates method; allowing her to incorporate modifications and variations in every class.
Originally from the Reno/Tahoe area, Clare holds a BS in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Nevada, Reno. She also works in outreach and business development for local health centers. For fun, Clare likes to go on walks and hikes with her Vizsla, Gauge

Kimberly Comey
Kimberly began her physical fitness career as a dancer in the San Francisco Bay Area. Growing up at her mom's dance studio, she danced competitively from a young age extending into college, as well as teaching dance and cheer classes to children and teens. She embarked on her Pilates journey in Denver while trying to find an alternative to her gym workouts and an exercise program that would work with her moderate, yet chronic knee pain. After one session she was hooked. "It was the first time I began working with my knees instead of against them." Kimberly was trained and certified in Denver through a truly unique program that consisted of a collaboration of teachers, ideas and philosophies; an education rooted in the classical Pilates exercises, along-side movements that stem from some of Joseph Pilates' first generation students Romana Kryzanowska & Kathy Grant. Her certification is in compliance with all requirements set-forth by the Pilates Method Alliance. As a member of the PMA, Kimberly continues to expand her Pilates knowledge with continuing education courses and workshops that she enjoys bringing back into her classes and clients. Kimberly moved to Colorado in 2001 where she received her BS in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She sees Pilates as the perfect release out of the everyday chaos of life. "Taking a moment to focus on your own mind & body makes you a better person to those around you. Pilates is that little gem in my life, one in which I love to share its benefits with others."
Tarah Pratt
Tarah grew up in Torrington, Wyoming, a short three-hour drive from Denver. Her affection for health and fitness began at an early age of 3 when she started her long tenure of ballet, jazz and tap dancing. She continued her dance passion while attending Cottey College and subsequently earning her bachelor’s degree in 2000 in Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado.
Having a dance background, she found Pilates to be a terrific escape from the oft-times challenging construction industry. Having worked at several studios throughout metro Denver, Tarah’s love of Pilates led to her starting the certification process in 2009 and subsequently teaching Pilates.
Tarah married her wonderful husband, Mike Pratt in 2010, and they share a home not far from the studio with their wonderful cat, Thea. They are expecting a baby English Labrador soon to add to their growing family. “Pilates has been a life-changer for me. I’ve learned that it’s not only the catalyst for physical fitness, but the mental rewards are cherished in appreciating life much more. I hope you will join us at Pilates Vita to share in how Pilates can change your life”.
