Welcome to Pilates Vita!

The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is a system of exercises that focus on the “Powerhouse.”  These deep postural muscles of the body—mainly the abdominal (core), buttocks, hips and inner thighs—strengthen and lengthen the body. While strengthening the core stability muscles, Pilates works towards re-aligning the spine to its optimum position.  Focusing on this proper form and alignment while strengthening the core stability muscles through movement is what Pilates is all about.  It is also very effective for toning muscles, weight loss, eliminating back pain and rehabilitation from injuries and surgeries. At Pilates Vita we also have special exercises for Pre and Post Natal women. We work with Physical Therapy on Pilates Method to increase the the possibilities of workout soon after surgeries. We care about each person as an individual, working almost like a private class, even if you come for a group session. At Pilates Vita, you will get all attention to exercise proper for the perfect result that you are looking for. You must connect your mind to your body in order to execute the movements properly .

The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is very different from your typical gym workout.  The exercise program utilizes a system of over 500 exercises using specialized equipment created by Joseph Pilates. Pilates is based on seven key principles consisting of centering, control, concentration, breath, flow, precision and balance.

Amenities & Equipment

In his Studio in NY, Joseph Pilates created original pieces of equipment for the system that he called “Contrology.”  Today, there are many different companies that manufacture Pilates equipment. At Pilates Vita we use the newest equipment produced by Balanced Body, considered one of the best in the industry.

Pilates equipment is different than your typical gym equipment. Through the use of springs, instead of weights, the equipment helps to show you where the muscles are and how they work within the movements.  Performing a series of controlled movements that works against the resistance of springs, is unlike using your average machine in a gym.

We have a changing area with a spacious bathroom as well as fresh drinking water, coffee and tea.

7 Reformers, 7 Jumpboards, 5 springboards, 2 Towers, 1 Cadillac, 5 Wunda Chairs, 1 Ladder Barrel, 5 Arcs, Pilates Floor Mats, Magic Circles, Spine Corrector, Arm Weights, Bands, Balls, and Rollers.

Class Descriptions

All classes will improve balance, coordination, muscle tone, core strength,

flexibility and correct posture. This programs has the ability to work around any

physical issues as the equipment provide support for the body.  Equipment classes

are great for beginners, intermediate, advanced or those recovering from any

injury and health issues.

Pilates Reformer Classes

The reformer is a piece of equipment on which the client exercises with a moving carriage attached to springs for resistance.  It's a full body workout, where this special equipment can assist those with physical limitations or challenge the most fit individual.  You will build core strength, increase flexibility, coordination, improve posture and create long, lean muscle.  Pilates is great for adults (men and women), athletes, dancers, and for rehabilitation.  It's recommended by doctors, chiropractor's and physical therapists.

Chair Classes

The Chair is a small piece of apparatus created by Joseph Pilates to be able to do almost all the same great things as the Reformer does and fit in a small area at his Studio in NY. Some exercises in the chair can require more core strength as well can develop more core strength! The clients in the picture are demonstrating an advanced exercise.  The chair allows for many modifications for ALL levels of strength.

Springboard Classes

The Springboard is a tower of various resistance springs attached to the wall where the client can get a full body workout laying down, sitting, or standing. This piece of apparatus is the safest form of equipment training due to the stability of the floor under the body.

Pilates Barre Workout

This form of exercise uses Pilates principles and basic ballet conditioning exercises, while incorporating light hand weights and intense isometric positions on the floor and at the barre.

This technique creates the long, lean muscles you see in dancers and all at a quick, motivating pace that burns fat and sculpts the body.  Expect to see flatter abdominals, a lifted seat, leaner thighs and greater definition in the arms and back.

When you work at the barre you have a sense of center and balance that allows you to concentrate on the muscle group you are working on, maximizing the bodies full potential.

This workout is “more intense” than a Pilates Mat class and professionals recommend the Pilates Barre be incorporated into your weekly workout routine at least three times per week to create a more cut, defined physique.

Pre and Pos Natal Pilates Classes

The last thing you may want to do is exercise while pregnant.  You are nauseous, fatiqued, hungry, cranky and all you may want to do is sit on the couch with a bowl of ice cream, watch Grey's Anatomy and cry into a pool of hormonal soup.

Well get up off of that couch because exercise is the first thing you should do!  Consider this, exercise helps with the ailments of pregnancy such as nausea, back pain, fatique, swelling, mood swings, and helps you get back into shape faster post partum.  But you may not know where to start to find the right exercise.  Pilates may be the solution for you.

Pilates is a safe and gentle way to keep the abdominals, pelvic muscles and back strong during pregnancy.  Pilates will also help strengthen and gain control of muscles used in delivery.  After pregnancy, Pilates helps the body quickly get back into shape and strengthen the areas affected by pregnancy and delivery (after doctor's approval and 6-8 weeks recovery).

Pilates offers a variety of exercises with modified variations and special equipment to cater to the needs of the pre-post natal woman.  Classes can range from mat class to equipment classes so the pregnant woman gets a full range of exercise repertoire to keep her motivated and strong both physically and mentally.

Why Pilates for Pregnancy?

* To improve circulation and strength

* To de-stress and improve mental health

* Helps aid in weight loss

* Prepares the body for the next pregnancy!

Cardio-Reformer (Jumpboard)

This class is geared toward all level of reformer clients.  It's excellent for the cardio enthusiasts!  The hour long class will take you through various jumps lying on your back or side using the springs as resistance. It is very low impact to the joints and will work your feet, legs, butt, abdominals and stamina.  Some classes will incorporate upperbody strengthening as well.  Get ready to sweat!

Pilates for Men

Men are welcome to take any of our regularly scheduled classes, but this specific men's class wil focus on areas of the body that men typically need improvement on.  This includes tight hamstrings, hip flexors, lower back, abdominals, stamina, and much more!
