About Pilates Equipment
The system developed by Joseph Pilates includes the use of uniquely designed equipment in conjunction with the mat work. The apparatus utilize straps, springs and supports, creating isometric resistance with the body's weight to align, stretch, and strengthen muscles. The use of equipment meeting Joseph Pilates' exacting specifications, is directly related to the ability to perform the exercises correctly and to achieving the full benefits of his method.
Pilates equipment is different from your typical gym equipment. Through the use of springs instead of weights, the equipment helps with precision of movement, allowing the user to perform a series of controlled movements that work against the resistance of the springs, different from the exercise machines in a typical gym.
Today, there are many different companies that manufacture Pilates equipment. Pilates Vita uses a brand new equipment produced by Balance Body, considered the best in the industry.

About Pilates Sessions:
Pilates will help improve balance, coordination, muscle tone, core strength, flexibility and posture. Beginner, intermediate or advanced Pilates clients, can work around any physical issues or injuries as the equipment provides support for the body. Our Pilates Sessions are taught on the Reformer, Chair, Trapeze Table (Cadillac) or Barre. We don’t teach floor Pilates!
About Physical Therapy:
The goal is to re educate your movements with conscious. Moving better you will relieve pain. It also helps improve or restore your physical function and your fitness level. Physical therapy can help with recovery after some surgeries or just to function your activities with better posture daily. Your doctor may suggest physical therapy for injuries or long-term health problems such as arthritis, etc… The goals is to help your body move to restore or increase your flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination, and/or balance.
The reformer is a piece of equipment on which the client exercises with a moving carriage attached to springs for resistance. It's a full body workout, where this special equipment can assist those with physical limitations or challenge the most fit individual. You will build core strength, increase flexibility, coordination, improve posture and create long, lean muscle. Pilates is great for adults (men and women), athletes, dancers, and for rehabilitation. It's recommended by doctors, chiropractors and physical therapists.
The Chair is a small piece of apparatus created by Joseph Pilates to be able to do almost all the same great things as the Reformer does and fit in a small area at his Studio in NY. Some exercises in the chair can require more core strength as well can develop more core strength! The clients in the picture are demonstrating an advanced exercise. The chair allows for many modifications for ALL levels of strength.
The Springboard or tower is a tower of various resistance springs attached to the wall where the client can get a full body workout laying down, sitting, or standing. This piece of apparatus is the safest form of equipment training due to the stability of the floor under the body.
